Commercial Health Care Furniture: James Spencer & Co Renovates Showroom

December 6, 2007

new-showroom.jpgIt seems that residential furniture designers are always opening new showrooms or having new sales or events to show off their offerings. Now a manufacturer of health care furniture is putting more of its wares on display for potential customers.

James Spencer & Co, a leading health care furniture manufacturer, has improved the showroom at its Prospect Hills headquarters in Wilsden. The company boasts an extensive products portfolio, and also a new addition to the showroom – a decked out bedroom featuring a layout typically found in private care homes or private hospital rooms.

The furnishings at the facility are extremely strong. Many of the products have been tested and verified capable of handling loads of up to 100 stones in weight. Now that’s some serious furniture. I wish I’d had furniture of that magnitude after Thanksgiving.

High End Hotel Furniture: Hastens and Kreiss at Gallery Furniture

December 4, 2007

shangri-la-directors-chair.jpgHotel owners, designers, and furniture connoisseurs, listen up! Gallery Furniture has added the fabulous Hastens and Kreiss to its line-up. This is the kind of furniture I’d want to bounce up and down on in the showroom, only the managers wouldn’t approve, and then there would be a bit of a scuffle, and then I’d be like, “But, I’m with the media!” And then they’d gently but firmly escort me from the premises. Not that that’s ever happened to me, no sirree! I can honestly say that I’ve never been thrown out of a furniture store. (Knock on wood.)

But, I digress. This furniture is really high-end and drool worthy. And with price tags ranging from $4,300 to $59,000 per piece, you can tell that Hastens and Kreiss are proud of their offerings, too.

Modern Bar Stools: The Zuo Modern Saddle

December 2, 2007

When I was younger, I was an accomplished equestrienne. That sounds more glamorous than it actually was, but it left me with an appreciation for a good horse and a good saddle. That said, I’m not entirely certain I would want a bar stool that took its inspiration from saddles. The Zuo Modern Saddle bar stool looks neat, but how cozy could you get on something shaped this way? It’s like an actual saddle, but in miniature.

zuo-modern-saddle-barstool.jpgSo I find myself looking for stirrups and wondering if this seat would ever be seen in a place where riding crops are available. Then I promptly shut down that train of thought and go back to wondering how you sit on it. I mean… do you just climb on like a real saddle, or do you possibly sit sideways? Is it actually comfortable after the novelty wears off? If you have insider knowledge of these things, please leave a comment and let me know how you feel.
