Modern Bar Stools: The Zuo Modern Saddle

When I was younger, I was an accomplished equestrienne. That sounds more glamorous than it actually was, but it left me with an appreciation for a good horse and a good saddle. That said, I’m not entirely certain I would want a bar stool that took its inspiration from saddles. The Zuo Modern Saddle bar stool looks neat, but how cozy could you get on something shaped this way? It’s like an actual saddle, but in miniature.
So I find myself looking for stirrups and wondering if this seat would ever be seen in a place where riding crops are available. Then I promptly shut down that train of thought and go back to wondering how you sit on it. I mean… do you just climb on like a real saddle, or do you possibly sit sideways? Is it actually comfortable after the novelty wears off? If you have insider knowledge of these things, please leave a comment and let me know how you feel.
The Saddle has an ABS epoxy coated seat and chrome plated hydraulic frame. Its dimensions are 15cm wide, 15cm deep, and 24-31 cm high. That doesn’t sound like much room for saddlebags, if you know what I mean. Still, it looks interesting, and it also comes in different colors, like white and orange.
I just can’t help thinking that this would make the perfect time-out chair for my old horse trainer to send her younger students to. I doubt the designer meant for it to be used in that fashion, but then again, what fashion was it intended to be used in? I suppose it would be fine as contemporary bar furniture, but if you’re just wanting something modern, there are more inviting bar chairs out there.
