Modern Low Tables: Koivisto and Rune’s “Brasilia”
December 13, 2007
Tables look like many things. I’ve seen tables that look like flowers, tables that look like dismembered legs (in tasteful brass), and tables that look like Jenga games gone wild. The Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune Brasilia Table looks like a little wooden wedge that would set off any clean, wooden décor. It’s a cute little table. I just want to stick a paper sail on top and sail it off down a river somewhere, although I’m almost certain that’s not a recommended use for this table.
Made from laminated veneer in birch, oak or walnut, the Brasilia can also be used for multiple applications. It could be a reception area table, perfect for displaying fashionable magazines in a nail salon. Or it could be a snappy little coffee table for a restaurant’s waiting area, with space to store menus and other items beneath the table top. It would look cute as an accent or side table, surrounded by contemporary bar tables in complementary wooden finishes, and it could easily be used in homes for displaying ornamental holiday centerpieces and candles.
The Brasilia is available in two sizes: 1000 x 1000 x H 280 mm and 1200 x 1200 x H 280 mm. It has the clean lines that men prefer, coupled with gentle angles that women also enjoy in furniture. The Brasilia would perhaps go best in a modern setting, with lots of angular chairs and sofas in black and bold solids. Think pop art on the walls, and lots of folks wearing black turtlenecks and having stimulating conversations over coffee. Tres chic!
